Dar es Salaam, a city of five million people, is made up of 5 districts, each with its own parliament and administration. Overarching measures, such as waste collection, urban planning, or public transport, are organized by a joint parliament and administration, the City Council, which also includes the city’s mayor.
The twinning agreement was signed by the mayors of Dar es Salaam and Hamburg.
The International Affairs and Protocol Department of the City Council cooperates with the Senate Chancellery in Hamburg.
Mr. Makwembethe is the head of the department. Mrs. Mazwile is the contact person for the activities and concerns of the town twinning in Dar es Salaam. Their office is located in the City Council at the beginning of Morogoro Road.
