Dar es Salaam Center of Architectural Heritage (DARCH)

Saving and Promoting international heritage in Dar es Salaam and Eastern Africa.

The Dar es Salaam Centre for Architectural Heritage (DARCH) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to saving and promoting historic architecture in Dar es Salaam and the broader East African context through research and documentation, education, and professional training, community outreach, and public cultural events.

DARCH is located in the Old Boma – probably Dar’s oldest building, which has been renovated to the highest international standards, making it a showcase for sustainable monument conservation. It is a testament to an innovative, integrated, sensitive, and developmental approach to building heritage that sees heritage as a living and ever-changing asset – a key driver and catalyst for economic, social, cultural, and political innovation and reinvention.
