HafenCity University Hamburg<\/h1>\n<\/h1>\n<\/div>HafenCity University Hamburg was founded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in 2006 as a university for architecture and spatial development by bringing together four faculties from three Hamburg universities.<\/strong><\/p>\nHere, all aspects of construction in design and drafting, engineering and natural sciences as well as humanities and social sciences are united under one roof. The HCU’s overarching research focuses are climate\/sustainability, social justice and digitalization.<\/strong><\/p>\nAs the largest inner-city urban development project in Europe, the HafenCity location offers around 2,400 students and around 350 employees the special attraction of an urban laboratory on their own doorstep.<\/p>\n
HafenCity University Hamburg – University of Architecture and Metropolitan Development (HCU) – focuses its teaching and research on the future of metropolitan areas. This requires the systematic crossing of disciplinary boundaries. The HCU<\/strong>\u00a0therefore offers the entire range of disciplines related to the understanding and design of the urban environment:<\/p>\n\n- Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Urban Planning – each as a Bachelor’s programme with a consecutive Master’s programme<\/li>\n
- Culture – Digitalization – Metropolis and Technical Building Services with Digital Infrastructure – as Bachelor’s programmes<\/li>\n
- Urban Design and Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning (REAP) – as interdisciplinary Master’s programmes<\/li>\n
- Interdisciplinary study programmes<\/strong>, an interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary study programme, complement the curriculum of the individual study programmes at HCU.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) was founded in 2006 as a profile university with a focus on metropolitan development and building culture. The increasing urbanization of the world gives rise to a range of different research questions with current relevance on both small and large scales, which require interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches in addition to discipline-specific ones. The researchers are working on issues relating to urban planning, civil engineering, cultural and social science urban research, geomatics and architecture. Natural and engineering sciences, planning, design and art as well as cultural and social science approaches characterize the exploration of the built environment and urban living environments in equal measure. Basic and application-oriented research are closely interrelated at the HCU.<\/p>\n<\/div>
