We get insights into the different creative worlds and temperaments of the young artists. In color-intensive painting\, textile\, collage\, multimedia\, and photography we encounter diverse expressions and multi-perspective approaches\, often with direct reference to the country.\nWe would like to thank Rebecca Yeong Ae Mzengi Corey from ‘Nafasi Art Space’\, Dar es Salaam\, Tanzania and Thomas Schlottmann from Kunsthaus FRISE in Hamburg for their help in selecting the artists\, \nMusic:\nRemiTone\nwith guitar\, percussion\, and vocals RemiTone lets sound a mixture of Afrobeat and rhythms of the traditional Gonga style from Tanzania. SUMMARY:Deforestation and climate change in Tanzania (photo tour)
DESCRIPTION:Invitation\nDeforestation and climate change in Tanzania\nA photo journey by Imani Nsamila\nA photo exhibition as part of the Hamburg Photo Triennale in Hamburg \nTanzania is one of the countries most affected by the climate crisis. The country is suffering from global warming\, drought\, severe flooding and the resulting displacement of the population. \nHeavy reliance on fuelwood and charcoal has led to deforestation\, carbon emissions\, and potential desertification. Tanzania is one of the largest consumers of charcoal in the world\, with Dar es Salaam supplying more than half of this demand. As a rapidly growing city with an increasing population\, the demand for charcoal will continue to increase each year. Although much of the local charcoal is obtained illegally\, millions of people rely on it as a resource and source of income. \nThe goal of the exhibition is to bring climate issues closer to the public in order to effect change. \nImani Nsamila is an internationally renowned photographer from Dar es Salaam who has just received the Global Climate Change Alliance+ East African Award for Photography (East/Central Africa region).
